Many societies hold certain prejudices towards families formed by adoption. Adoptive parents are held to much higher standards of parenting than 'natural' parents are. Conflicts within families formed by adoption are often attributed by outsiders to their 'adoptee/adopter' relationship. But when the same conflicts occur within biological families, outsiders regard them as 'normal' parent-child squabbles, and are less likely to attribute their cause to parenting failure or 'bad blood' in the child.

Children of my Soul aims to counter the constant barrage of negative messages from media and society by compiling a list of stories, movies and books that present adoptive families in a positive light. It is our hope that the media products and stories presented here can serve as encouragement to all families.
