Dr Musimbi Kanyoro, as General Secretary of the World YWCA, heads a global organization of 25 million. She is also President of Isis - Women's International Cross Cultural Exchange. The Kenyan national serves in a leadership or advisory capacity to many international bodies, such as The Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians, the Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance, the International Planning Group on HIV/AIDS and Faith-Based Organizations for UNAIDS. Internationally, Dr Kanyoro is a much sought-after speaker and seen as a role model to not just African women, but women everywhere. The Doctor of Ministry, who also has a PhD in Linguistics, was nominated for the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize and also received honors from organizations and institutions in the Philippines and the United States.
