Corporate high flyer Lalita Tademy worked 20 years at Sun Microsystems. She was serving as Vice President at Sun when she started researching her family roots. (Lalita Tademy was born in California, but her family can be traced to Louisiana, where some of her ancestors had been slaves.) |
Eventually, Lalita Tademy left Sun to pursue her family research and writing. The result was two books: the 2001 bestseller Cane River, which spanned the lives for four ancestresses in Tademy's mother's family; and Red River, the story of her father's family, which was released in January 2007.
