Dutch seems to be one of the few men that the violently deranged female lead Revy respects and has a degree of fear for, and yet trusts. He could easily overpower her, as he did to save the protagonist Rock from being killed by her. He deals with racism in a cool, detached manner, while making no secret of his distaste for racists. Revy, who is Chinese American, tries to make a bet with Dutch as to which of them a neo-Nazi character would choose to shoot first. "Ichiro Tendo" (or "Tendo Ichiro" in Japanese order) is the assumed identity of a nameless young Arab man. He is a central character in Episode 54 of the TV series: "The fortunes and misfortunes of the deceitful parent and child".

The episode's "Tendo Ichiro" starts out as a a poor Arab guide who witnesses the accidental death of his rich Japanese client, the original Tendo Ichiro. The guide, seeing an opportunity to better his financial circumstances, steals the Japanese man's passport and asks Black Jack to perform plastic surgery on him so that he would physically resemble the real Tendo Ichiro.

But when he travels to Japan, he is shocked to find that his client's company has gone bankrupt and all that he inherited was an old woman, the dead man's mother. He decides to stay at her home and live off her kindness until he can escape. The Arab guide's own birth mother had abused him and exploted his labor since he was a very young child, spending the money he earned on herself, so he is now unable to believe in a mother's love.

Unexpectedly, 'Ichiro' grows to love and care for his Japanese 'mother' because she treats him kindly. When the Japanese woman is on her death bed, he tries to tell her the truth, but the old woman reveals that she, too, is an imposter. Tendo's original mother died a long time ago; the woman who now passes as Tendo Ichiro's mother was in fact the mother's maid, who assumed the dead woman's identity to acquire her riches. Black Jack had operated on both fake mother and son and kept both operations secret. Instead of money, both found something far more precious. After her death, the Arab man returns to his home country to begin anew, but keeps a photograph of himself and his new mother with him.

Kenny
Character Name Kenny
Anime/Manga Title Gungrave
Appearance dark brown skin, wears a baseball cap
Ethnicity unknown
Background

Kenny is young teenager who hangs out with four older white boys in their late teens (including the 2 main characters Brandon and Harry) in a street gang. Lively, cheerful and outgoing, Kenny has a strong camaraderie with his teammates. They make their living by petty thievery and reselling stolen goods.

In Episode 2, Kenny sells the main character Brandon a stolen necklace which, unknown to him, belonged to a powerful mobstress. When the mobstress catches Kenny, she demands to know the whereabouts of her property. The terrified Kenny keeps silent and does not betray Brandon to the mobstress even though the mobstress' henchmen appear ready to kill him.

Brandon and Harry show up in time to bargain with the mobstress for Kenny's life. Harry even offers to prostitute himself to the mobstress in order to save Kenny.

Kenny is killed in Episode 3 by a gangster Mad Dog while weeping over the body of his dead friend, who was also killed by Mad Dog. He is the last of Harry's gang members to be killed. Kenny's death is the turning point for Harry, who kills for the first time to take revenge for the loss of Kenny and his other two buddies.

Although Kenny only has a major role in two episodes, he reappears in many flashbacks in later episodes; his memory typically signifies an important shift in the characters' choices, values or relationships:

Years later, when both Brandon and Harry are high level executives in a crime syndicate, Brandon recalls Kenny in Harry's presence, but Harry has totally forgotten about him. This was a pivotal moment in the plot. The ability or inability, as the case may be, to honor Kenny's memory turns out to be symbolic of the irreconciliable differences between the hero and the villain, a harbinger of doom for their once close relationship.

When Brandon comes back from the dead, one of his earliest returning memories is of Kenny's death. His first conscious choice was to visit the graves of his friends, including Kenny. Images of Kenny and the rest of the old gang return repeatedly as the main characters move toward their final showdown.

Unnamed Autoreiv
Character Name Unnamed Autoreiv
Anime/Manga Title Ergo Proxy
Appearance dark gray skin, straight white hair, dark eyes
Ethnicity N/A
Background

This unnamed character, who played a brief but important role in the middle of the series, is the only Autoreiv created in the image of a Proxy. In the world of Ergo Proxy, the proxies are demigods who are human-like in appearance, and typically have near-black skin and white hair.

Autoreivs are intelligent robots created to serve humans as personal assistants. While the typical Autoreiv has a body modeled after that of a human, its head and features are clearly robotic rather than human. This dark-skinned Autoreiv is exceptional: it serves no human master but attends to a Proxy directly, and its external appearance is that of a human child. The only other Autoreiv character who looks like a human child is one of the main characters, Pino, who has pale skin and dark hair.

Unnamed waitress
Character Name Unnamed waitress
Anime/Manga Title Black Jack 21
Appearance tan skin, hazel eyes, relatively straight short brown hair that curls at the ends
Ethnicity Arab
Background

This unnamed woman works as a waitress in the small, rather poor Middle Eastern country that the protagonists Black Jack and Pinoko make an emergency landing in after the high-tech plane Sky Hospital was hijacked by Arabs who wanted to use it as a war plane and appropriate the sophisticated medical equipment inside to treat people in their home country (which may or may not be the same country featured in this episode).

The nameless country, or at least the part of it which Black Jack and Pinoko travel through, is depicted as run-down and impoverished. The people Black Jack and Pinoko meet there are money-grubbing, aloof and unfriendly at best, and downright tyrannical at worst.

This waitress is of the first type: rude, impatient, seemingly in a constant bad mood, and not prone to doing anything for others without monetary compensation. She's always shown wearing makeup and only covers her hair (partially) with a headscarf when she goes to the police.

The nameless waitress saw Black Jack spending time with a Japanese man named Aritani. During this timeframe, a woman's murder took place. However, she refused to testify when Black Jack was arrested as a suspect for the murder, and Aritani, the only other person who could provide an alibi, was at an airport leaving for Japan. Despite Pinoko's pleading, the woman claimed not to recognize her, slapped the tiny Pinoko away when Pinoko grabbed onto her, saying she didn't want to get involved in any trouble.

It wasn't until Pinoko realized that Aritani was at the airport and brought him back to testify, that this woman agreed to provide her testimony too. This was apparently due to Aritani's intervention. He claimed that she was of a type who "remember best when you give them a little money."

There are no redeeming Arab characters in this episode full of Arabs, which is unfortunate as it gives an unbalanced picture of a people.

Viletta Nu
Character Name Viletta Nu
Anime/Manga Title Code Geass
Appearance Light brown skin, yellow eyes, long straight blue-green hair
Ethnicity Britannian
Background

Viletta is a skilled soldier of the Britannian Empire. (Britannia is an imaginary political entity inspired by Europe. The families names of other Britannian characters are influenced by names from various European ethnic groups. Britannians, except for Viletta, are light-skinned.)

In the first season, Viletta comes across as a somewhat negative, almost villainous, supporting character. An ambitious Knight who aspires to become a member of the hereditary nobility, she cackles gleefully when a chance for social climbing presents itself. Like most other native Britannians, she is racist against non-Britannians; even her Japanese lover Ohta cannot escape her snobbish wrath. On the other hand, she remains very loyal to her commanding officer Jeremiah Gottwald, despite his tendency towards poor judgment and emotional breakdowns. She even fights other Britannians to defend Jeremiah's life. Her strong will and logical, calculating approach provide a strong contrast to her former commander's mental fragility.

In the second season, her role shifts in a more positive direction. She has the opportunity to examine her choices and rethink her priorities when she sees that Ohta still cares about her despite the violence she did to him. Towards the end of the series, she and Ohta are among the few sympathetic characters in the largely cynical, Machiavellian cast of characters.
