A Thai woman living in the U.S. called a Chinese restaurant to make a reservation. The restaurant said they did not take reservations. So she went to the restaurant to wait for a place. As she was waiting, a European American man came in with an Asian woman. He said he had a reservation and was immediately shown to their table.
The Thai woman said, "Maybe they did not give me the reservation over the phone because I have an accent. I should have gotten [a white male friend] to call for a reservation."
