I, a person of East Asian heritage, went to a postoffice to mail a parcel. When I went up to the counter, the postal clerk, a Southeast Asian woman, shouted at me loudly and rudely to get out of line and fill in the necessary forms. I initially did not think much of her rudeness, "Oh well, some people just talk like that."
The next person in line was a South Asian man who also needed to mail a parcel. She shouted at him to get out of line and fill in the necessary forms. I thought, "I guess she really talks like that to everyone."
The next person who came up to the counter was a European American woman. Instantly, the postal clerk's demeanor changed. She chatted and laughed pleasantly with the white woman. The white woman was allowed to remain at the counter and fill out her forms, instead of getting out of line like the South Asian man and myself.
