The Indian contribution to the mathematics of the Asian continent and beyond

The most visible international influence of Indian mathematics is the numerical symbols of cultures outside India. Thai, Khmer (Cambodian) and Arabic numerals were derived from Hindu numerals.1 In fact, the Arabs refer to their numerical notation as "Indian numbers", arqa-m hindiyyah.2
