Songcatchers

Songcatchers is a musical collaboration between Arlie Neskahi, Lara Lavi, Mark Cardenas and Charles Neville. Arlie Neskahi is a Dine' (Navajo) composer and musician. Charles Neville is a member of The Neville Brothers, New Orleans' First Family of Funk.

The spoken word piece History 101 in Songcatchers' debut album "Dreaming in Color" tells of the shared history of African slaves and the people of the First Nations - how the whites used the strategy of 'divide-and-conquer' on the red and black peoples, and how despite that, some Indians and Africans banded together in resistance.
