Ryan L. is an instructor in Taekwondo, Hapkido, Karate, and Kung-fu, and has trained in other disciplines as well. He is a bi-racial Black and Native American gay black belt martial artist from the Chicago suburbs.
What Ryan L. says about himself:
I'm 26 years old, with a college degree and I've worked as a teacher, a mentor to children and teens, a counselor, as well as a martial arts instructor. Taekwondo and Karate are my favorite specialties. I grew up as an army brat so I basically had no choice but to learn martial arts at home and from my neighbor who is a sensei. I began my Taekwondo and Karate training at age 5 and became a black belt by age 7 going on 8. I've stuck with with these disciplines because I enjoy them and they're healthy.
Although I do not compete in tournaments, I have served as a judge at some tournaments. People are surprised to learn that I have studied martial arts for a very long time. I guess some people don't think a 5'9 155 pound guy like me is into what I'm into, especially since I'm gay.
Besides his job as a martial arts instructor, Ryan L. is currently a computer technician. He also does print and runway modeling and acting on the side in movies. He plans on becoming a movie/ TV star and perhaps even a gay martial arts action hero :-)
