Based on the martial arts novel by the acclaimed writer Jin Yong, The Legend of the Condor Hero follows the life of Yang Guo, who, at age 13, was sent by his adoptive father Dun Jing to learn martial arts under the All Truth School. He decided to run away from the school after being bullied and harassed by the senior students. Fortunately, he was rescued by Little Dragon Girl, the Gatekeeper of Ancient Tomb School. Little Dragon Girl taught Yang Guo the martial arts of the Ancient Tomb School, which he was able to pick up quickly with his extraordinary talent.

After day after day of training together, Yang Guo and Little Dragon Girl fell in love. Unfortunately for the lovers, the school had a rule against fraternizing between teachers and students, so the two were forced to part. Later, Yang Guo lost an arm in a misunderstanding with a junior disciple. He fled to the mountains where he was rescued by an enchanted condor which showed him the higher secrets of the martial arts. With his new skills, Yang Guo helped his father repel the Mongol invaders. Overcoming a lifetime of hardship and trials, Yang Guo and the Dragon Girl were finally reunited and disappeared from society to live as recluses.
